You do not usually need to link locations manually inside Impulse. If your store has **more than one active location** in Shopify, Impulse can work with **more than one linked location**. It is not limited to only one location. Impulse follows the locations you have configured in Shopify and uses that setup in the app workflow. This means the best place to manage location linking is Shopify admin. If you add, remove, activate, or change locations in Shopify, Impulse will follow those changes. **Quick answer:** If you have multiple active locations in Shopify, Impulse can work with multiple linked locations. Check your Shopify admin location settings first, because Impulse follows the locations configured there. ## Where to manage locations in Shopify To review the locations Impulse can use, check your Shopify location setup: Sign in to Shopify and open your store admin. In the left-hand menu, click **Settings**, then click **Locations**. Check the list of locations and confirm the locations you want to use are active and set up correctly. Go back to **Apps** and open **Impulse**. Impulse should follow the locations you have configured in Shopify. ## Using multiple Shopify locations with Impulse If you run your business from more than one warehouse, store, or fulfillment location, you can keep multiple active locations in Shopify. Impulse can work with that setup. - Impulse follows the locations that are active in Shopify. - You do not need to pick only one location in Impulse if Shopify is set up to use multiple locations. - If you want Impulse to reflect a different location setup, make the change in Shopify first. Impulse does not replace your Shopify location setup. Shopify remains the source of truth for which locations are active and available. ## What to check in Shopify admin If you manage more than one location, review these items in Shopify admin: - **The correct locations are active:** Disabled or inactive locations may not be available for Impulse to use. - **Your location list is up to date:** If you recently added a new warehouse or store, make sure it appears in **Settings > Locations**. - **Old or unused locations are reviewed:** If a location should no longer be used, update your Shopify setup so Impulse follows the correct active locations. - **Your Shopify changes were saved:** After updating location settings, confirm the changes were saved before reopening Impulse. If you are troubleshooting location issues, start in Shopify admin first. In most cases, correcting the location setup there will also correct what you see in Impulse. ## What to do if the wrong location appears in Impulse If Impulse seems to be using the wrong location, check the following: Open **Settings > Locations** in Shopify and confirm the correct locations are active. If you recently added, removed, or updated a location, make sure those changes were saved in Shopify. After updating Shopify, return to **Apps > Impulse** and check the location setup again. If you still see an older location, it usually means the Shopify location setup needs another review. Do not rely on Impulse alone to confirm your location setup. Always verify your active locations directly in Shopify admin. ## When to review your location setup You may need to check your Shopify locations if: - you added a new warehouse or retail store - you now fulfill orders from more than one location - you changed which locations are active - the wrong inventory location appears to be connected in Impulse ## Frequently asked question Yes. If your Shopify store has multiple active locations, Impulse can work with more than one linked location. It is not limited to a single location. Usually no. Impulse follows the locations configured in Shopify admin, so location changes should be made in Shopify first. Save your changes in Shopify, then reopen Impulse and confirm the app is following the updated location setup. --- ### Create an upsell rule **URL:** https://impulse.mantledocs.com/create-an-upsell-rule ## What this article covers Use this guide to create an upsell rule in **Impulse** and control where that rule appears. You will learn how to choose the correct **Sales Channel**, limit a rule to **Specific Stores**, set **Online Placement** for online-only rules, add **Trigger** products, choose **Upsell Products**, and use **Top Priority** when needed. In Impulse, upsell rules work with **weight-based logic**. If more than one rule could apply, the app uses rule weighting to decide what to show, unless a valid **Top Priority** rule is set to display first. ![Create Upsell Rule screen showing Upselling Details, Upselling Location, Trigger, Upsell Products, Status, Top Priority, and Language settings](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/489185f3-16e0-4ed3-8298-31f8801d68ab/Screenshot_2026-04-09_at_12.26.25.png) ## Before you start - Open the app and go to **Create Upsell Rule**. - Make sure the Shopify products you want to use already exist in your store. - If you want to target specific physical locations, confirm your Shopify locations are active and available in Impulse. ## Create the rule In **Upselling Details**, enter a clear name in the **Name** field so the rule is easy to identify later. In the **Status** panel, choose whether the rule should be **Active**. If you are still building the rule, you can leave it inactive until you are ready to use it. In **Upselling Location**, select the correct **Sales Channel** for the rule. In **Trigger (Optional)**, click **Browse Products** and select the products that should cause this upsell to appear. In **Upsell Products**, click **Browse Products** and select the products you want Impulse to recommend. Choose the correct option in **Language**, such as **English**. If needed, configure **Top Priority**, then review the rule carefully and save it. ## Choose the right sales channel The **Sales Channel** setting controls where the upsell rule can run. On the **Create Upsell Rule** screen, Impulse shows three options: - **POS & Online Cart** - **Online Only** - **POS Only** ### POS & Online Cart Choose **POS & Online Cart** when you want the same rule to work across both in-store selling and the online cart experience. This is the broadest option and is useful when the same recommendation makes sense in both channels. ### Online Only Choose **Online Only** when the upsell should appear only for online shoppers. When you select this option, Impulse shows an additional **Online Placement** field. ![Create Upsell Rule screen with Online Only selected and Online Placement set to Cart](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/951efff9-4c33-4c8c-816f-3c306196d28a/Screenshot_2026-04-09_at_12.26.38.png) Use **Online Placement** to choose where the upsell products are shown online: - **Cart** — show the upsell in the cart experience - **Checkout** — show the upsell at checkout, if that placement is available in your setup **Online Placement** appears only when **Online Only** is selected. You do not set this field for **POS & Online Cart** or **POS Only**. ### POS Only Choose **POS Only** when the recommendation should appear only in your point-of-sale workflow. This is useful for in-store add-ons that do not need to appear online. ## Set the rule for all stores or specific store locations When the selected sales channel supports store selection, the **Applicable Stores** area lets you decide whether the rule applies everywhere or only in selected places. - **All Stores** — the rule can run in every applicable location - **Specific Stores** — the rule runs only in the locations you choose If you choose **Specific Stores**, Impulse opens a **Select Stores** window where you can search locations, tick the stores you want, and click **Add**. ![Select Stores window showing a search field, location checkboxes, and Add and Cancel buttons](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/75d335bf-d404-4751-aeca-5b1d6e7b77fe/Screenshot_2026-04-09_at_12.27.37.png) This is especially useful when a promotion should run only in one branch, one region, or one store group. Use specific store targeting when product availability, local promotions, or staff-led selling differs by location. This helps keep upsells relevant and avoids showing offers in the wrong store. ## Trigger products explained The **Trigger (Optional)** section controls *what starts the upsell*. Trigger products are the products a customer must already be buying, adding, or interacting with before the upsell rule becomes relevant. To set trigger products: 1. Go to **Trigger (Optional)**. 2. Click **Browse Products**. 3. Select the product or products that should activate the rule. ### How trigger products work - If a customer adds one of the selected trigger products, the rule becomes eligible to show. - If you select multiple trigger products, the rule can be used for any of those selected items. - If you leave **Trigger (Optional)** empty, the rule is not tied to a specific trigger product list. ### When to use trigger products - **Accessory selling:** Trigger on a main product and recommend a matching add-on. - **Service add-ons:** Trigger on a premium item and recommend setup, protection, or extended service. - **Collection-specific upsells:** Trigger on a narrow product group instead of showing the same recommendation to everyone. Trigger products define **when** the rule can appear. They do not define **what** gets recommended. The actual recommended items are chosen in **Upsell Products**. ## Set the products to be upsold The **Upsell Products** section controls the items Impulse recommends after the rule is triggered. To set upsell products: 1. Go to **Upsell Products**. 2. Click **Browse Products**. 3. Select the product or products you want to promote. ### Best practices for upsell products - Choose products that make sense with the trigger product. - Keep the recommendation relevant to the sales channel. For example, some offers may work better in **POS Only** than online. - If you are targeting **Specific Stores**, make sure the upsell products are appropriate for those locations. A rule will be less effective if the trigger products and upsell products are not closely related. Keep the recommendation easy for the customer to understand. ## Use Top Priority when required The **Top Priority** panel is used when you need one upsell to display first over other matching rules. When enabled, the panel lets you choose: - **Select Channel** - **Select Location** This means you can set a top-priority rule by channel and by store scope. ![Top Priority panel enabled with channel and location options and a compatibility warning message](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/0aad74fd-0ac3-4cbf-ba3d-a32eabf7182f/Screenshot_2026-04-09_at_12.29.21.png) ### How Top Priority behaves The panel text explains that each store can set a top-priority upsell to display first when multiple are available. This is useful when you want one recommendation to win over other eligible rules. ### Important compatibility note If you choose an unsupported combination, Impulse shows a warning message. For example: > **This channel combination is not compatible. Online & In-store top priority can only be used with Online & In-store sales channel.** So if you need a top-priority rule that works across both online and in-store, make sure the main rule is also set to the combined channel option. Use **Top Priority** only when you need a clear winner. For most day-to-day upsells, the app's normal weight-based logic is the better choice because it allows rules to compete naturally. ## How weight-based logic works Impulse uses **weight-based logic** to decide which rule should be shown when more than one rule could apply. - If only one rule matches, that rule can be shown. - If several rules match, the app uses rule weighting to decide which one should appear. - If you enable a valid **Top Priority** rule, that rule can be shown first for the selected channel and location scope. This gives you two levels of control: - **Weight-based logic** for normal rule ordering - **Top Priority** for exceptions where one upsell must take precedence ## Example setups Set **Sales Channel** to **POS & Online Cart**. If needed, leave **Applicable Stores** as **All Stores** so the same rule can be used widely. Set **Sales Channel** to **Online Only**, then choose **Online Placement** as **Cart** or **Checkout**. Add your trigger products and upsell products, then save the rule. Set **Sales Channel** to **POS Only**. In **Applicable Stores**, choose **Specific Stores**, select the locations in **Select Stores**, and click **Add**. Turn **Top Priority** on, then choose the correct **Select Channel** and **Select Location** values so that store shows this rule first when multiple upsells are available. ## Checklist before you save - The **Name** clearly identifies the rule. - **Status** is set correctly. - The correct **Sales Channel** is selected. - If using **Online Only**, the correct **Online Placement** is selected. - If needed, **Applicable Stores** is limited to the right locations. - The correct **Trigger** products are selected. - The correct **Upsell Products** are selected. - **Top Priority** is enabled only if you need the rule to override normal weight-based behavior. - The correct **Language** is selected. --- ### Using Impulse in Shopify POS **URL:** https://impulse.mantledocs.com/using-impulse-in-shopify-pos ## What this guide covers This guide walks through the in-store Impulse experience in the same order shown in the walkthrough: finding the **Impulse** tile on the Shopify POS home screen, opening the product list, reviewing a product, and adding it to the cart. It also explains how to prepare the upsells that appear in POS. Before you try to use Impulse in Shopify POS, make sure you have already created your rulesets first. In the app, these are set up as **upsell rules** on the **Create Upsell Rule** screen. If no POS-ready upsell rules exist, the Impulse tile will have nothing useful to show. ## What the Impulse tile does in POS On the Shopify POS home screen, Impulse appears as its own tile labeled **Impulse**. The tile gives staff a quick way to open a curated list of upsell products without leaving the cart flow. In the walkthrough, the tile shows a subtitle such as **View 2 products**. This tells staff how many upsell products are currently available from Impulse for that POS session. ![Shopify POS home screen showing the Impulse tile with the subtitle View 2 products next to other tiles and the cart](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/video-frames/9ec72fdd-c7ab-420f-a5ff-88f95727543f/frame_001.jpg) ### How the tile behaves - Tapping **Impulse** opens an Impulse modal over the POS screen. - The tile does not replace the cart. It works alongside the existing Shopify POS cart on the right side of the screen. - The tile acts as a product picker for available upsells. - If Impulse has more than one available product, staff can browse the list and choose the best recommendation for the customer. The tile is a staff tool inside Shopify POS. It helps associates quickly surface recommended add-ons, accessories, or related products during checkout. ## Using Impulse in POS From the Shopify POS home screen, tap the **Impulse** tile. This opens the Impulse overlay, where available upsell products are listed. In the **Impulse** modal, staff see a product list with: - product image - product name - price - a right arrow to open product details In the walkthrough, the list includes products such as **Branded Notebook** and **Branded Polo Shirt**. ![Impulse modal in Shopify POS listing available upsell products with images, names, prices, and arrows](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/video-frames/692e2068-77c0-415d-9994-d5e7d8d1bc40/frame_002.jpg) Tap the arrow beside a product to open its detail view. The detail screen shows the product name and the key information staff need before offering it to the customer, including: - **Variant Details** - price - stock count, such as **5 in stock** This makes it easy to confirm the exact item is available before adding it. When the customer wants the item, tap **Add to Cart**. The selected upsell product is then added to the Shopify POS cart. ![Impulse product detail view showing Variant Details, stock count, price, Add to Cart, Back to Variants, and Back to Products](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/video-frames/9049eed9-41fd-4cf1-84ad-5dc0a391714c/frame_003.jpg) If staff want to choose a different option, they can use: - **Back to Variants** to return to the variant selection level - **Back to Products** to return to the main Impulse product list This helps staff compare options before adding anything to the cart. ## What staff can do from the Impulse POS flow From the POS experience shown in the walkthrough, staff can: - open the **Impulse** tile from the Shopify POS home screen - see how many upsell products are currently available - browse available upsell products in a simple list - review product images, names, and prices - open a product to check **Variant Details** and stock availability - tap **Add to Cart** to add the upsell directly to the current order - move back through the flow using **Back to Variants** and **Back to Products** ## How to add upselling products to Impulse The products shown in POS come from the upsell setup you create in the Impulse app. To control what appears in the tile, create or update an upsell rule in Impulse first. ![Create Upsell Rule screen in Impulse showing Upselling Details, Sales Channel, Applicable Stores, Trigger, Upsell Products, Status, and Top Priority](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/d2d835e8-5db3-4825-9c33-4bdb6d7efa24/IMG_0057.PNG) In Impulse, go to **Create Upsell Rule**. In **Upselling Details**, enter a name in the **Name** field. In the **Status** panel, set the rule to **Active** when it is ready to use. In **Upselling Location**, choose the correct **Sales Channel**: - **POS & Online Cart** if you want the same rule to work in both places - **POS Only** if the upsell should appear only in-store If you choose **Online Only**, that rule is for online placement and is not the right choice for a POS-only workflow. Under **Applicable Stores**, choose: - **All Stores** to use the rule everywhere it applies - **Specific Stores** to limit the rule to selected locations This is useful when certain upsells should appear only in certain retail locations. In **Trigger (Optional)**, click **Browse Products** and choose the products that should cause the upsell to become eligible. For example, if a customer is buying a main item, you can trigger a matching accessory offer. In **Upsell Products**, click **Browse Products** and select the products you want staff to be able to offer through Impulse. These are the products that can appear in the POS Impulse list. After saving the rule, open Shopify POS and tap the **Impulse** tile to confirm the expected products appear. ## Best practices for POS upsells - Choose upsell products that are easy to explain quickly at the counter. - Use **POS Only** for in-store offers that do not make sense online. - Use **Specific Stores** when stock, promotions, or merchandising vary by location. - Check stock in the product detail view before recommending an item. - Keep the customer conversation simple by offering related products, accessories, or add-ons with clear value. If a product should be available only in certain stores, do not leave the rule too broad. Review the **Applicable Stores** setting so staff are not shown offers that do not fit that location. ## Why products may not appear in the tile If the **Impulse** tile does not show the products you expect, review the rule setup in the app: - make sure the rule is **Active** - make sure the **Sales Channel** is set to **POS Only** or **POS & Online Cart** - make sure the rule applies to the correct store under **Applicable Stores** - make sure you added products under **Upsell Products** - if you use **Trigger (Optional)**, make sure the cart matches the trigger conditions If you are setting up a new in-store workflow, start by creating a simple active rule with a small group of relevant products. Once you confirm the tile works in POS, you can expand your rules and store targeting. --- ### Staff upsells from the POS tile **URL:** https://impulse.mantledocs.com/staff-upsells-from-the-pos-tile ## What this article covers This article explains how staff upsell tracking works when a sale is made through the **Impulse** tile in Shopify POS. It also shows how the upsell is attributed to a staff member using their email address, and how to review individual results in **Staff Upsells**. Staff upsell tracking is tied to the in-store Impulse flow in Shopify POS. Staff first open the **Impulse** tile, add an upsell product to the cart, and complete the sale in POS. ## How staff upsells are tracked in POS On the Shopify POS home screen, Impulse appears as a tile labeled **Impulse**. Staff use this tile to open the available upsell products, review the recommendation, and add the selected item to the cart. ![Shopify POS showing the Impulse tile on the home screen beside the cart](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/bf7da2db-8b52-41de-8ac2-f57909bf699e/Screenshot_2026-04-09_at_15.18.57.png) In the POS flow shown in the app, staff can: - tap the **Impulse** tile - view available upsell products in the Impulse overlay - open a product from the list - tap **Add to Cart** - finish the transaction in Shopify POS When an upsell product is added through this Impulse tile flow and the order is completed, the upsell can be counted against the staff member who made the sale. ## How the upsell is attributed to a staff member Impulse attributes the upsell to the staff member by matching the staff identity from the POS sale to the staff member's **email address**. In practical terms, this means the upsell is credited to the staff profile whose email address matches the staff member handling the POS transaction. For staff attribution to work correctly, the staff member needs to be using the correct POS login and their email address needs to match the staff record Impulse uses for reporting. ### What this means day to day - If a staff member opens **Impulse** in POS and adds the upsell to the order, the completed upsell is attributed using that staff member's email address. - If the email address does not match the expected staff record, the upsell may not appear under the staff member you expect in reporting. - Consistent staff logins and correct email addresses are important for accurate staff upsell reporting. If you are reviewing staff performance, first confirm that each team member is signing into Shopify POS with the correct staff account and that their email address is set up consistently. This helps keep attribution accurate in **Staff Upsells**. ## How to check who has upsold what Use the **Staff Upsells** area to review results by team member. In the Impulse app, go to **Staff Upsells**. This section lists staff members with their recorded upsell activity. Locate the staff member you want to review in the **Staff Upsells** list. Entries in this view represent individual staff members. Click the relevant **staff member entry**. This opens that staff member's upsell detail view so you can see what they have upsold. Inside the staff member record, review the upsell information shown for that person. This is where you can check who has upsold what based on the staff member you selected. ## What staff see in the POS upsell flow When staff tap **Impulse**, the app opens a product list overlay showing the available upsell products. In the example flow, staff can select an item such as **Branded Notebook** or **Branded Polo Shirt**, open the product, and add it to the cart. ![Impulse overlay in Shopify POS listing available upsell products](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/aa6cb58d-9a3a-4d56-8bd8-6717165447f4/Screenshot_2026-04-09_at_15.19.03.png) This matters for reporting because the upsell must be added through the **Impulse** POS flow before it can be tracked as an Impulse staff upsell. ## Best practices for accurate staff attribution - Make sure each staff member uses their own Shopify POS login. - Keep staff email addresses accurate and consistent. - Train staff to add upsell items through the **Impulse** tile rather than manually adding the product another way. - Review **Staff Upsells** regularly to confirm results are appearing under the correct team member. If multiple team members share logins or the email address on the staff record is incorrect, staff upsells may be attributed incorrectly or be harder to review accurately. ## When a staff upsell does not appear as expected If you cannot find an upsell under the expected staff member in **Staff Upsells**, check the following: - the sale was made through the **Impulse** tile in Shopify POS - the upsell product was added during the Impulse flow - the order was completed in POS - the staff member was signed in with the correct account - the staff member's email address matches the record used for attribution Impulse reporting and attribution depend on both the POS workflow and the staff identity used during the sale. If either is inconsistent, reporting may not match your expectations. --- ### Check the Products Upsold area **URL:** https://impulse.mantledocs.com/check-the-products-upsold-area ## What this article covers Use this guide to find the **Products Upsold** area for a product in **Impulse** and understand the information shown there. This includes the **Upsell Revenue** chart and the **Upsell Rules** table with columns for **Name**, **Serves**, **Views**, **Clicks**, **Sold**, and **Revenue**. The Products Upsold area is shown on an individual product page. In the example screen, the breadcrumb is **Products > Branded Polo Shirt**. ## Open the Products Upsold area In Impulse, go to **Products**. Select the product you want to review. When the product page opens, you will see a breadcrumb similar to **Products > Branded Polo Shirt**. On the product page, scroll to the analytics area that shows **Upsell Revenue** at the top and **Upsell Rules** underneath. ![Product page in Impulse showing the Upsell Revenue chart and Upsell Rules table for Branded Polo Shirt](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/84eb7092-3070-4953-8479-85aa4215a89e/Screenshot_2026-04-09_at_15.48.32.png) ## What you can see in this area ### Upsell Revenue The **Upsell Revenue** card shows how much revenue that product has generated through upsells. - The large value at the top shows the current total, such as **£0.00**. - The chart displays performance over time. - The legend below the chart separates revenue by channel: - **Revenue in the last 30 days** **Web Revenue in the last 30 days** **POS Revenue in the last 30 days** This helps you see whether a product is performing through online upsells, POS upsells, or both. ### Upsell Rules The **Upsell Rules** table shows which rule is using that product as an upsell and how that rule is performing. Each row includes: - **Name** — the upsell rule name, such as **Black Tote Bag** - **Serves** — how many times the rule was served - **Views** — how many times customers saw it - **Clicks** — how many times customers clicked it - **Sold** — how many units were sold from that upsell - **Revenue** — revenue generated by that rule Use this table to understand which rules are attached to the product and whether those rules are converting. ## How to read the numbers ### When Serves is high but Clicks are low If **Serves** and **Views** are increasing but **Clicks** stay low, the upsell is being shown but is not attracting enough interest. The offer may need a more relevant trigger product or a stronger upsell product match. ### When Clicks are high but Sold is low If customers click the upsell but **Sold** stays low, the product may be interesting but not compelling enough to complete the purchase. Review the product choice, price, or placement. ### When Revenue is zero If the chart shows **£0.00** and the table also shows **Revenue** as **£0.00**, that means the product has not yet generated upsell sales during the period shown. A product can still appear in the Products Upsold area even when there have been no sales yet. In that case, you may still see rule activity such as **Serves**, **Views**, or **Clicks**. ## Use the page to identify what to improve The Products Upsold area is most useful when you review both the chart and the table together: - Check the **Upsell Revenue** chart to see the overall trend. - Check the **Upsell Rules** table to find the exact rule driving the results. - Look for rules with high **Views** but low **Clicks** or low **Sold**. - Compare **Web Revenue in the last 30 days** and **POS Revenue in the last 30 days** to see which channel is working better for that product. If one product is underperforming, review the rule setup in [Create an upsell rule](/create-an-upsell-rule) and confirm the selected **Sales Channel**, **Trigger (Optional)**, and **Upsell Products** still make sense together. ## Language setting on the page At the bottom of the page, Impulse shows a **Language** dropdown. In the example screen, it is set to **English**. Use this setting if you need to view the page in the available app language. ## Why you might not see useful data yet - The product may be attached to a rule that has not been active long enough. - The rule may not be getting enough **Serves** or **Views**. - The rule may not be configured for the right sales channel. - The product may not have been added under **Upsell Products** in an active rule. If the table is empty or revenue stays at zero, review the product’s active upsell rules and make sure the rule is set to **Active** and assigned to the correct channel and stores. ## Quick checklist - Open **Products**. - Select the product you want to inspect. - Find the **Upsell Revenue** card. - Review the **Upsell Rules** table. - Compare **Serves**, **Views**, **Clicks**, **Sold**, and **Revenue**. - Use the results to decide whether the upsell rule needs adjusting. --- ## FAQs ### How do I use Impulse via POS? **URL:** https://impulse.mantledocs.com/impulse-in-pos-faq ## Using Impulse in Shopify POS This FAQ explains how to use **Impulse** inside Shopify POS, what staff can do from the **Impulse** tile, and how to make sure the right upsell products appear. Create and activate your upsell setup in **Create Upsell Rule** before testing in Shopify POS. If no POS-ready rule exists, the **Impulse** tile will not have products to show. On the Shopify POS home screen, look for the tile labelled **Impulse**. The tile may show a subtitle like **View 2 products**, which tells staff how many upsell products are currently available. ![Shopify POS home screen showing the Impulse tile with the subtitle View 2 products](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/video-frames/9ec72fdd-c7ab-420f-a5ff-88f95727543f/frame_001.jpg) Tapping **Impulse** opens an Impulse product list over the POS screen. Staff can review available upsell items without leaving the current cart flow. Each item in the list shows the product image, product name, price, and an arrow to open more detail. Open the **Impulse** tile, tap the arrow beside a product, review the product details, then tap **Add to Cart**. On the detail screen, staff can also check **Variant Details**, price, and stock information such as **5 in stock** before adding the item. ![Impulse product detail view showing Variant Details, stock count, price, and Add to Cart](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/video-frames/9049eed9-41fd-4cf1-84ad-5dc0a391714c/frame_003.jpg) Yes. Staff can use **Back to Variants** to return to variant options or **Back to Products** to return to the main Impulse product list. In the Impulse app, open **Create Upsell Rule**. Then: - Enter a rule name in **Upselling Details** under **Name**. - Set **Status** to **Active**. - In **Upselling Location**, set **Sales Channel** to **POS Only** or **POS & Online Cart**. - Choose **Applicable Stores** as **All Stores** or **Specific Stores**. - Use **Browse Products** in **Upsell Products** to add the products staff should offer. If needed, use **Trigger (Optional)** and **Browse Products** to limit the offer to carts containing specific products. Check these settings in your rule: - **Status** is set to **Active** - **Sales Channel** is set to **POS Only** or **POS & Online Cart** - The correct stores are selected in **Applicable Stores** - Products were added in **Upsell Products** - If you use **Trigger (Optional)**, the current cart matches the trigger products If **Sales Channel** is set to **Online Only**, the rule is not set up for POS. Open the product detail view and confirm the price, **Variant Details**, and stock level before tapping **Add to Cart**. This helps staff offer items that are relevant and available. ## Best practice Keep POS offers simple. Use products that are easy to explain at the counter, and use **Specific Stores** when offers should only appear in certain locations. --- ### How Can Staff Use Upselling in POS? **URL:** https://impulse.mantledocs.com/staff-upsells-faq ## Staff upsells in Impulse Use this quick FAQ to understand how staff members upsell from the **Impulse** tile in **Shopify POS**, and how store owners review those results in **Staff Upsells**. For an upsell to be tracked as a staff upsell, it must be added through the **Impulse** tile flow in Shopify POS and the sale must be completed in POS. ![Shopify POS home screen showing the Impulse tile](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/bf7da2db-8b52-41de-8ac2-f57909bf699e/Screenshot_2026-04-09_at_15.18.57.png) ## FAQ On the Shopify POS home screen, tap the **Impulse** tile. This opens the Impulse upsell view, where staff can review the recommended products, open a product, and tap **Add to Cart**. The sale is then completed in Shopify POS as normal. An upsell counts when the product is added through the **Impulse** tile flow and the order is completed in POS. If the item is added another way, it may not be tracked as an Impulse staff upsell. Impulse attributes the upsell using the staff member's **email address**. The staff identity used in the POS sale is matched to the staff record shown in Impulse reporting. In the Impulse app, go to **Staff Upsells**. This area shows upsell activity by staff member so you can see who is generating upsells and review each person's results. Open **Staff Upsells**, find the staff member in the list, and open their entry. Their detail view shows the upsell activity recorded for that person. Use **Products Upsold** if you want to review which products are being upsold most often, and **Staff Upsells** if you want to see which staff member generated the upsell. The most common reasons are: - the product was not added through the **Impulse** tile - the order was not completed in Shopify POS - the staff member was signed into the wrong POS account - the staff email does not match the record used for attribution For the most accurate reporting, make sure each team member uses their own Shopify POS login and that their email address is correct. If staff share logins or add products outside the **Impulse** flow, attribution in **Staff Upsells** may be inaccurate. ## Related pages See the full in-store Impulse flow in Shopify POS. The **Products Upsold** area appears on an individual product page inside **Products**. In Impulse, open **Products Upsold**, then select the product you want to review. On that product page, scroll to the section showing **Upsell Revenue** and **Upsell Rules**. **Upsell Revenue** shows how much revenue that product has generated through upsells. The chart also separates performance into **Revenue in the last 30 days**, **Web Revenue in the last 30 days**, and **POS Revenue in the last 30 days**. The **Upsell Rules** table shows which upsell rules use that product and how each rule is performing. - **Name** - **Serves** - **Views** - **Clicks** - **Sold** - **Revenue** If **Views** are high but **Clicks** are low, customers are seeing the upsell but not engaging with it. If **Clicks** are high but **Sold** is low, the offer is getting interest but not converting. If **Upsell Revenue** and the table **Revenue** column both show **£0.00**, that product has not generated upsell sales in the period shown yet. ![Product page in Impulse showing the Upsell Revenue chart and Upsell Rules table](https://cdn.heymantle.com/orgs/c60dabf2-e049-400a-a45b-5abda837631d/docs-pages/84eb7092-3070-4953-8479-85aa4215a89e/Screenshot_2026-04-09_at_15.48.32.png) Use the **Upsell Revenue** chart for the overall trend, then use **Upsell Rules** to identify which specific rule is driving the results. --- ## Troubleshooting ### Troubleshooting Overview **URL:** https://impulse.mantledocs.com/troubleshooting-overview In this area, you’ll find guidance on troubleshooting for functionality and features within Impulse. --- ### POS troubleshooting for Impulse **URL:** https://impulse.mantledocs.com/impulse-pos-troubleshooting If Impulse is not working in Shopify POS, use this quick checklist to find the most common setup or usage issue. Impulse only works when staff open the **Impulse** tile in Shopify POS and add the item through the Impulse flow using **Add to Cart**. If staff add the product from normal Shopify POS search or the catalog, it will not count as an Impulse upsell. ## Quick checklist On the POS device, make sure staff opened the **Impulse** tile, selected the upsell product there, and tapped **Add to Cart**. Look for a tile labeled **Impulse** on the Shopify POS home screen. If the tile is missing, staff cannot use the Impulse upsell flow. In Impulse, open the relevant upsell rule and confirm its status is set to **Active**. For Shopify POS, the rule's **Sales Channel** must be set to **POS Only** or **POS & Online Cart**. Under **Applicable Stores**, make sure the store where the sale is happening is included. Under **Upsell Products**, confirm that products were added to the rule. If none were added, nothing will appear in POS. If the rule uses a **Trigger**, make sure the current POS cart matches it. If the trigger product is not in the cart, the upsell will not appear. ## Common outcomes ### Tile missing If the **Impulse** tile is not on the POS home screen, staff cannot use Impulse from POS. ### No products appear This usually means the rule is not active, the sales channel is wrong, the correct store is not included, no upsell products were added, or the cart does not match the trigger. ### Product added but not counted If the product was added outside the **Impulse** tile flow, it will not count as an Impulse upsell. Staff must use the tile and tap **Add to Cart**. ## Related Learn how Impulse works inside Shopify POS. Set up a rule with the right products, stores, and sales channels.
